Francine and Jamie’s destination wedding in France was one of those experiences that had me pinching myself just to check that YES this is real, YES I am actually in the Loire Valley in France, YES they actually picked me to photograph their wedding day at Chateau de Jalesnes. What?!
Francine and Jamie are the sweetest soulmates. They care deeply for those around them and are also up for a good laugh. Francine is beautiful through and through and Jamie is the kind of guy who makes you feel welcomed and appreciated from the get-go. You get a pretty good idea about what people are like based on the people they surround themselves with. The bridesmaids and groomsmen were no exception. Each person made us feel included in the day and made sure we were looked after and we couldn’t thank them enough!
It was a breezy 30 degrees celsius in June, no big deal. ;) Guests came prepared with shades, sunscreen and water bottles for the outdoor ceremony. Joel and I made sure we dipped in for some shade too. The amazing thing about Chateaux is they keep fairly cool indoors even with no air conditioning!
With a ceremony starting at 4:30 pm, we had all the time in the morning to photograph bridal and groom prep and capture all the details. I also had a minute or two to gawk at Yonny working his magic on the girls’ hair!
As the air was cooling down for the evening, I took Francine and Jamie around the Chateau de Jalesnes grounds for a few photos on their own. We even managed to get outside for a few more photos in-between speeches as the sun became that coveted gold. These are some of my favorite photos of the day. :)
An evening of drinks on the lawn, speeches that had the room in both tears and laughter and a wild dance party in the Chateau keep lead by Adam Sayer. He’s not just a man on piano folks, he literally kept that room full and buzzing until the very end! And what better sendoff than an epic firework display.
We had fireworks at our wedding so they always make me feel nostalgic when I photograph them at other weddings!
Thank you both SO freakin much for inviting us to photograph your destination wedding at Chateau de Jalesnes in the gorgeous Loire Valley. From your first phone call to your engagement shoot at Durdle Door in Dorset and to this very day, you have been a dream to serve. I can’t wait to see where life takes you next!
