Before wedding season 2019 began, Joel and I took a weekend road trip to Wales near Cardigan to visit my sweet friend, Heather Birnie Photography!
I first met Heather on a destination wedding in Sicily of all places! Can you believe it?! And then a few years later Joel ran into her again at a wedding in Wales and we got back in touch online. It seems like only God can put people like this in your path and I’m so glad for that!
Heather and I talked for ages about meeting up properly on her farm in Wales and nearly 3 years later we made it happen- plus it seemed like NO time had passed at all. You know it’s a good friendship when that happens!
We spent Saturday morning exploring the farm. We wandered the fields and saw all the lambs and Joel very excitedly collected the chicken eggs.
After seeing all the animals and getting “suitably muddy” as Heather put it, we had a tea break with homemade welsh cakes (omgggg so good!) and then drove in Heather’s VW transporter to Bara Menyn for the best brunch I’ve ever had! (PS. totally getting a van now)
We ended the day with an ocean swim at Mwnt while Joel happily sat back and took photos. ;) We then warmed up in the van with hot coffee and later returned to the beach for dinner cooked on the fire. Heather’s boyfriend, Luke, joined us with Heather’s pup, Meg, and I can’t get over the cuteness of the bond these two have with their dog!
This weekend was full of ALL my favorite things and my heart feels like it’s filling up again looking through the memories we managed to photograph.
Thank you, Heather, again for your generous hospitality and an AMAZING, adventurous, whistle-stop tour of Cardigan. This will not be our last adventure. WE ARE COMING BACK!
