Only a few days before Christmas, I had the privilege of photographing Kate and Westley’s wedding at one of the West Midlands’ best wedding venues, Compton Verney. This national art gallery quickly became one of my favorite wedding venues in Warwickshire! I even enjoyed the drive down from Coventry, past Leamington Spa and Stratford-upon-Avon despite the heavy fog!
It might not have been the sunny winter day we were crossing our fingers for, but we kept warm and out of the damp fog with the ceremony being in Compton Verney’s newly renovated chapel and the dinner and reception being held in the 18th-century mansion next door! Elegant and exquisite just might be the right words to describe this Warwickshire wedding venue…!
I’m pretty sure my jaw dropped to my knees when I walked into the chapel for the first time- absolutely everything was WHITE (did they know I was coming??). It was crisp and clean and OH so pretty. Decorated with simple white floral arrangements down the aisle, it was the perfect backdrop for Kate and Westley’s wedding ceremony.
After the I Do’s, guests mingled in the art gallery enjoying drinks and canapés while family members gathered for photos in the courtyard. I worked through the family photos quickly and efficiently as it was (very) cold and the light was fading fast. We had just enough time for bride and groom photos near the lake before the fog set in even more. It wasn’t long before we could barely see 5 feet in front of us!
The bride and groom spent the evening at Compton Verney with their dearest friends and family. There were plenty of drinks, laughter and memories made. Speeches were given by the father of the bride, the groom and his 3 best men. To follow- cake cutting and plenty of partying thanks to The CoverUps band putting on a great show!
Huge congratulations to Kate and Westley on their marriage. I always feel so lucky to meet such lovely couples and document these once in a lifetime moments for them. What a wonderful winter wedding and I hope to return to Compton Verney again very soon!
