“Hannah is a true gem! I loved every second spent working with her not only during our engagement shoot, but both pre & post shoot, as well. Hannah took our engagement photos in London on a chilly October morning. I was so thankful for the energy & excitement she brought with her to make it a successful day! We had spent weeks discussing the shoot via email & I was happy to always receive such a positive & enthusiastic response from her. The morning of our shoot, Hannah was just as determined as us to make the most of our time in the city. We wanted to try & get a variety of locations in, not just in front of your typical landmarks, & she never hesitated to run with one of our ideas. I am still impressed by all of the ground we covered in our time together. Hannah shared with us a stunning collection of photos from our engagement shoot & we are so pleased with them! Not only are they filled with natural light (so impressive given the clouds) they are also filled with details I wouldn’t have originally consider to be important aspects of the day. Looking back now, they really make the memories of the morning that more vivid. We are so grateful to have had this experience with Hannah. She is incredibly kind & was even flexible enough to rearrange both the week & time of our shoot to better accommodate our schedules & the sunrise/sunset. Such a blessing! Hannah is an absolute delight & her photography is truly wonderful. Thank you so much.” – Jacqui
It was still dark as I boarded the train with a return ticket to London Euston in one hand and a Pumpkin Spice Latte in the other. I held my camera bag tightly to my chest as I squeezed through the crowd of commuters to find my seat. Once sat, I put my coffee down and took a book out of my bag, though I didn’t manage to read more than two pages as the train jolted forward on the tracks and I was soon captivated by miles of rolling fields as the sun began to rise. “Onwards to meet Jacqui and Dayne for their engagement shoot!” I thought to myself… while also enjoying the small victory of waking up early and wearing something other than pajamas to work.
Taking Jacqui and Dayne’s engagement photos was an absolute pleasure. I felt automatically connected to Jacqui when she first emailed me and exclaimed we both share American roots! She too fell in love with a London Englishman and is enduring the tough long distance relationship before finally marrying her soulmate.
What made Jacqui first stand out to you, Dayne?
“Easy answer! Her smile. It lights up any room and is just a small insight to just how happy and positive an influence she is not just on me but everyone that meets her. Even my dad likes her!!”
What made Dayne first stand out to you, Jacqui?
“One of the first things about Dayne that instantly stood out to me (aside from his English accent) is that he is thought of highly by his friends. The first time we really spoke to one another was at our mutual friends’ wedding. Dayne was the best man, which is an honor in itself. In my eyes, he displayed many of his quality attributes throughout that weekend. He had the perfect balance of respect & humor, not only towards the bride & groom but towards all of the guests. He took his role seriously and embraced it fully to help create a memorable day for our friends, which said much about their friendship, but more so about his character. When I found out he was to be the best man in another one of his friend’s wedding later that year, I remember thinking, ‘This guy is really special.’ I should also mention the natural cheeky charm he possesses caught my attention, too.”

“It was at the end of a long day. Dayne and I had flown from London to Rome with Dayne’s Dad, and we were meeting up with my parents, brother and sister flying in from Michigan. My sister had broken her humerus a few days before the trip and was really uncomfortable, so the stress of the day was fairly consistent.
From navigating Rome for the first time, making sure my sister wasn’t bumped by someone not paying attention, fighting jet lag, & our families meeting for the first time… a proposal was the last thing on my mind!
Around 11pm, we began heading back to our accommodations. I was more than ready to crash in bed, knowing we had an early morning planned. Dayne, being the adventurous and spontaneous man that he is, exclaimed that he wanted to go to the Colosseum right now! I was incredibly hesitant but ended up going because, ‘When in Rome!’
The walk there was a straight shot to the ruins, we could actually see them from lake street. On the way there, Dayne was talking me through basic history of the Colosseum… brave men and fighting for what they want, etc. He laughed as he said, ‘Such a romantic place!’ I think I rolled my eyes, ‘Yes, love. Very.’ Little did I know what he was amping himself up for.
The closer we got the more the talk began to focus on our usual banter of when we would get married. Dayne started off, ‘So love, 2028 then? That’s when we’ll get married?’
I was not up for much play if I’m being completely honest… Just an exhausted response, ‘No love, that’s too far away.’
Dayne continued, as he always does, suggesting alternative years for marriage, all which were dismissed by me quickly. During this time, Dayne was leading me past the Colosseum and up a flight of stairs with a great view overlooking the area. A brief thought flashed through my mind, ‘This would be a great spot for a proposal!’ But I was too tired to think much of it, quite confident that was not why we were climbing the steps.
‘2020?’ Dayne asked. By this time we were at the top of the steps. I stopped and looked back at the Colosseum caving in, ‘Yes, love. I guess 2020 would be fine.’ When I turned back around Dayne said, ‘How about 2017?’ Within a second he was on one knee. I nearly fell over! I was so shocked, but still managed to say yes!”
Jacqui, I feel like we’ve been friends for years! I am so glad our paths crossed! Dayne, thanks for being your super cool, chilled self! I had so much fun getting to know you both and capturing these memories for you!
