Their first meeting was unlike many others- they were only babies! Little did they know that 20 odd years later they would grow up to be best friends and vow to spend the rest of their lives together. At 16, James had his heart set on Emma. After a year of dating, he prepared to ask Emma to be his wife. He planned to cook Emma her favourite dinner in a wilderness cabin he decorated with photos and memories of their relationship thus far. Rose petals and 400 candles were placed about the room and the perfect scene was set. When they had finished eating, James got down on one knee and asked Emma to marry him. In her own words, “I realised I couldn’t imagine sharing my life with anyone else and I wouldn’t want to.” And with this realisation deep in her heart, she said yes!
On April 16 2016, at
Sanderstead Evangelical Church, Emma and James made their promises to each other, exchanged rings as a symbol of forever and became husband and wife! With a joyous confetti exit and an eruption of applause from family and friends, the newlyweds jumped into a vintage, hunter green Morgan sportscar and made their way to
Lloyd Hall in Outwood, Surrey where I met them for their bride and groom photos.
The day proceeded with family photographs outside the hall in between spouts of rain, an amazing feast of pulled pork catered by
Outwood Butchers, cutting of Emma and James’ gorgeous wedding cake made by a family friend, Kirsty, and a traditional ceilidh lead by
License to Ceilidh. It was a perfect day celebrating two wonderful people who deserve nothing but joy and happiness! When I asked Emma and James what their favourite part of their day was they said, “The whole day was so perfect and we just loved every minute of it!” I couldn’t be happier… :)
I loved this special moment when Emma’s grandparents said hello all the way from Holland!
Hours of hard work went into decorating Lloyd Hall with bunting and Disney themed centrepieces. Emma hand embroidered every single one of the table numbers! What a creative bride!
A poloroid guest book with a hand painted cover by Emma! ‘Be Our Guest’ was an appropriate title to follow the Disney theme of the reception. I loved everything about this!
Miniature flavoured fruit infusions were individually placed in corked glass jars as guest favours. This was a completely original idea I have never seen before!
Emma’s tea-length white tulle and lace wedding dress by Berketex Bride suited her to perfection! The applique and beaded detail on the bodice and small white buttons down the back were beautiful touches.
Emma loves flower crowns! So much so that she gave each of her bridesmaids and her flower girl one of their own. Occasionally Yours Florist in Croydon did an amazing job pulling these beautiful, boho-chic flower crowns and bouquets of pale pink and white roses together!
Emma and James were blessed by their friend Kirsty who baked this incredible 12-layer wedding cake for them! Classic vanilla sponge with creamy icing in between each layer and fresh berries, pink roses and white baby’s-breath to decorate. Hand painted wooden bride and groom figures with a Mr & Mrs banner also made an adorable cake topper! These naked, rustic wedding cakes are so trendy and perfect for spring/ summer weddings!
Without these vendors, this wedding would not have been the same. Massive thanks to all who were involved in Emma and James’ big day!
