It was a warm, sun-drenched afternoon at Lake Windermere when James and Nicola walked hand in hand along the lake’s edge taking in all the beauty that surrounded them. The lake created a peaceful soundtrack for their conversation as they shared treasured memories they had together. At the perfect moment, James knelt down on the ground with a Haribo ring in his hand and asked Nicola to spend the rest of her life with him. Nicola squealed with excitement and with tears in her eyes said, “Yes!”
At least… this is the dream Nicola had shortly after her and James started dating!
What was once a night’s dream, became a tangible reality when Nicola and James fell in love and agreed to a forever together. Remembering this dream Nicola had shared with him months before, James prepared the perfect proposal that brought everything Nicola had dreamed about to life. He brought a Haribo ring and the diamond one, of course. ;) He also set his phone on a rock nearby and filmed the entire proposal knowing Nicola would be too excited to remember the details later. Well done, James!
The day of the engagement shoot was colder than Christmas day. We planned to walk around Sutton Park in Birmingham and find a few locations along the way. We then had a better idea… warming up with a hot cuppa at Under Pressure Espresso first! After mochas, we chased the sunset and managed to grab a few minutes of the setting sun before it dipped below the horizon. However, the orange and yellow trees stood out from the frosty ground and turned out to be a gorgeous backdrop wherever we went! We shot until dark and headed home with the heat blasting in the car to thaw our fingers and toes.
Nicola and James are planning to be wed this June at the West Midlands Golf Club. They cannot wait to finally be married and to celebrate their commitment to each other with so many beloved friends and family around them. Joel and I are so excited to be photographing their wedding day as well! Here’s to many more happy days!
