This engagement session was especially dear as the mother of the bride-to-be was the brilliant mind behind the whole idea!
When Candice’s mom contacted me, she explained the idea of surprising her daughter and her daughter’s fiancé with an engagement shoot gift certificate at their engagement party. I’m not much of a graphic designer, but trusting the few creative bones in my body and being a huge fan of the idea, I went to work on a certificate.
As soon as Candice got in touch, I could sense her excitement and eagerness to set a date. In a matter of minutes we decided on two locations for the shoot- Coventry Cathedral and Coombe Abbey Hotel- both very dear to her heart.
We wondered around the cathedral ruins in Coventry centre and took time for a few photos by the steps where Candice used to go as a child to journal, read and think. To have her future husband, Steve, by her side now was a beautiful picture of life’s journey.
The stroll through the ruins was enjoyable and relaxed. We soon made our way across the street to St. Mary’s Guildhall and snuck ourselves in for a few more photos. The church bells began to ring and Candice stopped, looked up, and took a deep breath in saying, “Isn’t that just beautiful?” Her admiration for the music breaking through the busy city sounds was endearing and reminded me how valuable it is to pause and breathe in beauty, even if you can’t see it.
The second half of our session lead us to Coombe Abbey Country Park where Bella, their beloved labrador, joined us. With overgrown grass, swans, willow tress and blooming flowers, Coombe Abbey did not disappoint!
I am a lucky girl to have met such a sweet couple and to have photographed their unending love. Their wedding day is no doubt going to be one of the best days of their life, and I couldn’t be more excited for them!
Steve can always put Candi at ease by making her laugh…
Listening to the bells ring at St. Mary’s Guildhall…
Gorgeous willow trees that surround Coombe Abbey Hotel and give it such a whimsical feel, even on overcast days…
Being a blooming photographer herself, Candice asked for a few photos with her camera and I didn’t hesitate! I love adding personal touches to my couple’s photo shoots!
