September 10, 2015
It was in a local coffee shop over mochas where I first met Natalie and Adam and heard about their wedding plans for the following summer. We talked about the venue they had chosen, Mythe Barn. We talked about how Natalie had bought her dress and was keeping it a secret from Adam until the moment she was to walk down the aisle. We talked about plans for their stag do and hen party. We talked about their friends and their family and how they were excited for everyone to be together in the same place on their wedding day. It wasn’t long before I knew that Natalie and Adam were a layed back and an easy-going couple who enjoyed joking back and forth! And it was clear they were looking forward to celebrating their wedding day with their loved ones, more than they were concerned about all the little details. This was truly admirable!
Months went by as we emailed and settled plans for the wedding quickly approaching. Before we knew it, the big day arrived and Joel and I set off to the Mythe Barn in Atherstone, Warwickshire only a short drive from where our home is in Coventry. Local weddings are bliss!!
It’s not often that Joel second shoots for me on a wedding day, but when he does I am so thankful! I might be biased, but I think we make a pretty good team! ;) What I might have to explain to someone in a paragraph, Joel picks up from a single look or nod of my head. This definitely came in handy on this day when the ceremony started and I was on the ground floor photographing from the front and Joel was on the balcony shooting from above!
In the morning, Joel spent his time with Adam and the groomsmen… check out the lightsabers that were involved (below!). While the guys buttoned up, I was upstairs in the barn with Natalie, her mum and Emily, her chief bridesmaid. With Chloe McCall beautifully preparing Natalie’s makeup and Emily on hair duty, the morning was calm, relaxed and very efficient!
The rest of the day proceeded with ease. A joyful ceremony followed by a bubble + confetti exit of the bride and groom and bucks fizz + conversation in the sunshine. The evening continued with a 3-course dinner by Galloping Gourmet and heartfelt speeches by the father of the bride, groom and the best man. To come to a close, Natalie and Adam had their first dance and were soon joined by their parents and close friends swaying back and forth to their favorite song.
It was a seamlessly beautiful day to say the least. I have to give a huge thank you to the team at Mythe Barn for being absolutely amazing throughout the entire day – they were all smiles and humble serving! Also a huge thank you to the team of creatives that made Natalie and Adam’s wedding day possible! I’ve tried to credit as many of you as I can at the bottom. Thank you!
And for Natalie and Adam, thank you once again for allowing me to document your first day as husband and wife. Thank you for being so easy-going and full of fun! I wish you both the biggest blessings I can give as you start your married life together. May these photos be cherished for years to come.
Love,
Hannah
