I didn’t really know what to expect coming into this year’s wedding season. I knew a free weekend would be scarce. I knew I would be tired. I knew I would be challenged. I knew it would be fun. I guess all of those things are true, but you never really know the extent of it until you’re in the midst of it!
I feel like I’ve changed my mind more times in one summer about edits, fonts and packaging than in my entire life. I’ve never been so sore and so tired, yet so fulfilled, in one day than I have after each wedding this year. I’ve never bought so many black articles of clothing, so many umbrellas, made so many trips to the post office, rubbed my eyes so many times or written so many to-do lists, but it’s all been worth it.
I am beyond grateful, and honestly, beyond belief that I have had the chance to photograph so many incredible weddings, meet so many great people and document their love stories, their families and their beautiful selves.
Along with the satisfaction of the business, comes the stress. No matter how perfect a job might seem, there is no job out there that doesn’t come with aches and pains and the need for a break. Joel and I have been planning this for a while now and I’m SO excited to finally spill the beans and say…we are going to… MOROCCO!!! (I really can’t believe I just typed those words!) After a mega hustle this season, Joel and I are taking a break and will be doing so at the foot of the Atlas Mountains. There will be no phones, no laptops, no distractions. We’re going to say hello to the sun again, eat lots (I mean, LOTS) of food and just BE.
Here’s to working AND resting hard- see ya!!
