On this special June day, I packed my bags into our little punto and made the drive up to Lincolnshire where Laura and Benedict were destined to be married. The sun was shining, windows rolled down, country music playing – it finally felt like a start to this summer’s wedding season!
I arrived at the groom’s location and captured the men finishing up the last touches of their suits and ties before making my way to where Laura and her bridesmaids were preparing. I arrived at a beautiful family home. It was peaceful with a gentle bustle of the girls getting ready upstairs. I was immediately offered food and drink – this was only the start to such hospitality!
When Laura’s wedding dress, rings and details were photographed I quickly grabbed a few shots of the girls helping Laura into her dress and then hopped back in the car to drive to the church. As I was driving down the winding, countryside roads I actually said out loud “I want to be here all day! I love England!” and then shortly realized…. wait… I will be!! Beauty surrounded me everywhere I looked.
The ceremony was formal and traditional, the perfect setting for the bride and groom. They exchanged vows, worshipped and were prayed for by their fathers and their families. It was a beautiful representation of community coming around the two of them and supporting them in their marriage together. Their pastor put it perfectly, “There is a blanket of warmth in this room.”
After a confetti exit from the church and a break for photos, dinner was served by the amazing Rachel of rachel-green.co.uk. Again, I was so generously taken care of by the catering team and wedding party. My belly was full!
Speeches ensued with laughter and tears. The wedding cake, made by a family friend, was cut and tasted and then… the party really got started! The bride and groom began their first dance lead by the ceilidh band, Black Beard’s Tea Party, followed by friends and family joining in with much swinging, spinning and gusto! A ceilidh isn’t a ceilidh unless you give it your all. ;)
Laura and Benedict, I said it before and I will say it again, thank you for allowing me to document your first day as husband and wife. It was an honor. I have loved the planning process leading up to your wedding day and to see it all come together in the end was beautiful. I was welcomed and looked after as a friend when I met you as only a stranger. Your love is admirable and you are bound for greatness together as one.
I hope you enjoy these memories and may they last lifetime after lifetime…
Love,
Hannah
