After months of waiting for weddings to re-open, we finally got the news in April that weddings of up to 15 people could go ahead! This was just the green light Emily and Jonathan needed to set a date for their garden wedding and finally tie the knot!
Emily and Jonathan chose Emily’s family home in Coventry to have their garden wedding. Organza tulle draped over the patio pergola with bows of fresh flowers creates a gorgeous wedding arch. A runner of burlap down the length of the garden created a rustic aisle fit for a grand entrance. The garden looked perfect and even more stunning in the golden evening light.
Emily’s immediate family joined them in person and Jonathan’s family in Germany joined online with dozens of other loved ones who were eager to cheer them on. Emily’s family are also close friends with their neighbors who were able to watch the ceremony safely in their own gardens! Everyone online and in person could witness the ceremony and hear the vows through a video and PA system that was streaming the ceremony. It was an ingenious setup!
I arrived before the ceremony to capture a few getting ready moments and Emily’s dad seeing her in her dress for the first time (the look on his face..!!). There were tears of joy as Emily walked down the aisle and so much joy and laughter throughout the ceremony. Emily and Jonathan wrote their own vows and you could hear echoes of cheering across the gardens when they were finally announced husband and wife!
Following the ceremony, we had a few photos in the garden and then drove to a nearby churchyard for a few golden hour photos in front of a beautiful cherry blossom tree. After, I said goodbye to the new Mr and Mrs and left them to rejoin their family for a McDonald’s meal and evening fireworks in the garden. I love to see couples make their wedding days their own!!
I’m so happy to have documented this special day for Emily and Jonathan and their families. I know we are all looking forward to their big celebration this August! For now, enjoy a few highlights from their garden wedding below…
