I’m going to take a wild guess and assume you know someone (or at least know someone who knows someone) who is an artist. Maybe a musician, a photographer or videographer, a makeup artist, writer, blogger, painter etc. And I’ll take another wild guess that if you COULD support them, you would. Right?
As much as we want to buy from our artist friends sometimes we can’t. BUT there are always things you can do SO easily and for no money at all that will impact their business and support them more than you think!
This is probably the quickest and easiest thing you can do that will impact them the most. I’m not the most in-the-know person when it comes to Facebook and Instagram’s algorithms but I know that the more likes and comments on a post, the more that post appears as ‘relevant’ and ‘good’ content to the social media gods and therefore shows up on people’s newsfeeds more often. A simple click of that heart icon can actually make a HUGE difference!
You might want to ask your friend if this is okay (chances are, they will jump at the opportunity!) but sharing their work on Instagram Stories, clicking that share button on Facebook, re-tweeting their posts are all GGGGG-REAT. Even better, if you’ve bought their artwork/ used their service/ experienced their talent first hand, share what you liked about it with your circle. Which brings me to…
I, for one, know that word of mouth recommendations from friends secure bookings almost instantly. People want to buy from people they trust! So, being a trusted friend and recommending your artist friend is invaluable. Speak up, write a review, rave about them. These are all ways you can help artists FOR FREE.
So, next time you see art that you like why not leave a comment or tell your friends about it! We will be forever grateful to you! <3
