This story started a long time ago…. believe it or not, James and Hannah’s mums were friends at the time they were both pregnant with Hannah and James! At times Hannah and James crossed paths during childhood when they shared a school bus and went to friend’s birthday parties, that sort of thing. But when they reunited at a friend’s wedding a few years ago, sparks really started to fly (even if they denied it at the time ;)). Hannah was helping bake puddings for the wedding and set aside a homemade lime and blueberry bunt cake especially for James. After the wedding, James texted her saying she would have to go over to his house to get her cake tin. She was a little annoyed but also a little curious so she went out of her way to get the tin. When she knocked on James’ door, he opened it and gave back her tin… now filled with an array of Krispy Kreme donuts. How could she be mad now? ;)
I think their friends were right- there was definitely something going on here! With a little bit of blueberry pie and a whole lot of God’s handiwork, these two are now engaged to be married!!
I happen to have met Hannah and James a few times before and we have mutual friends in Birmingham! James was the best man at a wedding I photographed last year and they were both guests at a wedding I photographed this year. Their engagement shoot in Walsall, Birmingham was giggly and so much fun! There were a few nerves at the beginning, but James really took initiative and made Hannah feel at ease. We spent the first half in a wooded area and the second half in James’ house where they cooked the most delicious Paella (leaving the prawnies out for me, hehe thanks, guys! ;)) and made homemade Sangria that was to die for. We talked about Goldendoodles and music and what they’re looking forward to about being married. I just can’t wait to photograph their wedding day in April next year!
Thank you, Hannah and James, for taking the time to get to know me and for speaking my number one love language- food! ;D You sent me on my way with a full belly, a happy heart and even a bouquet of flowers. Seriously. You well and truly ROCK.
